Mr Kyps Live Music venue is located in Poole, Dorset, UK. We are a dedicated live music venue, NOT a pub. Regarded by many touring bands as one of the best 300 capacity venues in the country, we provide excellent sound, great views of the bands from all parts of the venue, very reasonably priced drinks and a particularly friendly atmosphere.

Please note: Discrepancies in prices listed in all media including this website are rare but may occur. In ALL cases the box office will be correct.

Refund Policy : Mr Kyps regret that tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase, except in the case of a cancelled show. In the unlikely event of a show being cancelled we will give you the choice of a full refund or a ticket exchange for another show of equal value. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Gig listing are updated daily. However if you are traveling any distance, please contact the club before leaving to minimise the chance of a wasted trip. Unfortunately, Mr Kyps accepts no liability for any losses incurred under any circumstances.

CuRioSiTy presents Audioporn + Perico
Thu09April
Nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize, Audioporn have been described by one national newspaper reviewer as 'One of the best bands I've ever seen'. High praise indeed for a group of modern day mavericks, who have become cult heroes on the alternative scene. Their first album 'TANK' was a unique modern day fable of escape from the ever suffocating rat race. Their new album 'A Message From Our Sponsors' is a roller coaster ride through the genres and emotions of life in this crumbling CCTV fairground; a fluid tour de force of angst, drowning debt bewilderment, life jacket wonderment and finger raising arse spanking joyous rock and roll. Get up and get happy indeed.

Audioporn....

“Imagine you walked into a room and unexpectedly found a group of people swaying to tight, heavy, sweaty, funky music. Then you realised that the strange man speaking and singing words over the top of it was being waspish and witty and - damn it - telling it like it really is in this strange, warped world today. You would feel like you had found something special. You would want to share the secret. That's what happened to me, and it's why I'm telling you. Get some Audioporn in your life.”
Independent on Sunday

"There is no band doing anything even half as original with half the passion...Audioporn are a one-off."

Perico
Their first Mr Kyps gig since the release of their majestic second album, 'Toy Swords and Kalashnikovs' CuRioSiTy presents the long-overdue return of Perico.

Perico & the Paper Cinema
Using a diverse mix of instruments – including cornet, hammer dulcimer and viola – their sound has a distinct Latino feel which allows the audience to connect instantly and creates a heavy sense of drama. Eccentric musical flamboyancy and debauchery oppose sublimely composed woozy melancholy in a concoction which lends their live show to being described as an unscripted cabaret.

The feedback after they played our 2006 John Peel Day gig (read review here) confirmed our belief in the appeal of their curious cocktail of sounds...

"Radiohead meets Morricone"
- David Holmes, producer

The Perico gig experience is furthered by the Paper Cinema; a live projected animation show featuring meticulously crafted paper puppets and scenery which creates a captivatingly surreal visual addition to the already-engaging visual aspect of a stage full of lively musicians and instruments.

It is this combination of dramatic, unique and engaging songs with live animation that won over London’s film/theatre/music/events company Future Cinema, and has taken them to the stages of Turin; London venues Fabric, SEone, Tate Modern and Luminaire; and festivals including The Big Chill, Latitude, Thames and Larmer Tree.

"It's a strange improvised cocktail not on any existing menu, but Perico know how to make and shake it."
- Battersea Arts Centre, London.

"...wouldn’t sound out of place in a Tarantino movie."
- Glasswerk.

"Utterly unique"
- The Guardian
