CuRioSiTy presents Art Brut + The Robocop Kraus
Sun26April
Fresh from recording their most recent third album, in the US with living legend The Pixies' frontman Frank Black, post-punk local boys (and girl) Art Brut come back to their roots to play Mr Kyps as part of their national tour in April 2009. With singer Eddie Argos and guitarists, Ian Catskillin and Jasper Future, heralding from these very parts, as well as the now mythical muse for the song of the same name - Emily Kane coming from just round the corner, this will be one triumphant return... especially as their first ever gig in their original incarnation, The Art Goblins, was at Ashley Cross's very own The Central pub!

And Art Brut themselves can't wait for this undoubtedly special gig as guitarist Jasper Future attests "This is will be a great homecoming. We rarely get to come back and play in the places we grew up in. It's a little like the Prodigal Son returning home to his father. We have indeed wasted our substance with riotous living."

But as people say from such tiny acorns great oaks grow... and, lo and behold, the globetrotting appeal of Art Brut who have played the cream of festivals festivals across the globe including Coachella, Pitchfork, Benacassim, V Festival and New York’s Siren as well as having just completed their biggest ever US and UK tours. Having released two albums ''Bang Bang Rock'n'Roll' and 'It's A Bit Complicated' to both critical acclaim in the UK and reaching the elusive rock valhala of breaking the US, Art Brut go from strength to strength. US music site Pitchfork Media Rolling Stone named ‘Formed A Band’ their Single Of The Year. Spin named them one of the 15 Best Live Bands In The World.

Art Brut's punk DIY mentality and riotous indie-schmindie sound evoke beautifully grubby snapshots of modern life (which, yes, is still rubbish...). Songs with such universal appeal are rambunctiously delivered by singer Eddie Argos with his tongue firmly in cheek (which you would think would make it difficult to sing...). Hits like 'Modern Art', 'My Little Brother (Just Discovered Rock'n'roll)' and 'Nag Nag Nag Nag' directly hit the spot for anyone out there who fondly remembers the high and lows of their teenage kicks, when they were in bands and dreamt of being on Top of The Pops...

Check out them live doing a rousing rendition of their seminal hit Formed a Band to get a feel of their unquestionable live presence:
